From 27 September 2026, new EU rules will apply on information to consumers about the statutory right to claim for defects and durability guarantees. At Quilts of Denmark, we are adapting our product labelling and product information to meet the new requirements. On this page, you will find information about the GARAN label and our durability guarantee.
What does our extended guarantee cover?
At Quilts of Denmark, we offer an extended durability guarantee on down duvets from our brands with a fill power above 650 CUIN. The guarantee period is stated on the GARAN label for each product. Therefore, always use the product-specific label when informing customers about the guarantee in your store or online shop. The guarantee is conditional on the duvet being used, washed, dried and maintained in accordance with the product instructions. It does not cover damage or deterioration caused by incorrect use, inadequate maintenance, or failure to follow the washing and care instructions. The durability guarantee does not affect the consumer’s other statutory rights.

What is the GARAN label?
GARAN is the EU’s common label for a commercial durability guarantee from the manufacturer. The label makes it easier for consumers to see when a product has an additional guarantee and how many years the guarantee applies for.
The GARAN label is used when the manufacturer’s durability guarantee:
- applies for more than two years
- is offered at no additional cost to the consumer
- covers the entire product.
When the guarantee meets the conditions, use of the GARAN label is mandatory from 27 September 2026. The durability guarantee supplements the consumer’s statutory rights and does not limit them.
What is the harmonised notice?
The harmonised notice is the EU’s common information about consumers’ statutory right to claim for defects. The notice makes it easier for consumers to understand their rights if an item is defective.
The harmonised notice:
- informs consumers about their statutory rights
- must be displayed clearly in physical stores and on online shops
From 27 September 2026, it is mandatory for retailers selling to consumers to display the notice. It follows the EU’s prescribed content and design and is available in all EU languages.
The notice complements the GARAN label by clarifying the difference between the statutory right to claim for defects and the manufacturer’s additional durability guarantee.
What must you do as a retailer?
When selling to consumers, you must be aware of both the product-specific durability guarantee and the general information about the statutory right to claim for defects.
In store
Display the GARAN label clearly next to the products covered by our durability guarantee, so the customer can see which product and which guarantee period the label applies to. The harmonised notice about consumers’ statutory rights must also be displayed clearly, for example at the checkout.
On your online shop
Display the relevant GARAN label clearly in connection with the covered product. Ensure that the customer can easily find the associated guarantee terms. The harmonised notice must also be clearly available as general information about consumers’ statutory rights.
